The Peakview K-8 Beginning Band
Welcome to the Peakview K-8 Beginning Band page! I am so excited that you and your student have decided to embark on this musical journey!
Please remember that music is a skill that takes time to perfect! Be patient and you will see growth on your instrument in no time! Here are some tips for beginning band students and parents:

Practice everyday! If the day ends in 'y' you should have practiced your instrument! Note playing in band class does NOT count as practicing. As a musician, you need time by yourself to work out the kinks on your instrument.

Ask for help! Learning an instrument can be one of the hardest things that you have done so far in your life! Please note that I, myself, did not get a music degree without a slue of private lesson teachers and mentors along the way. I myself am available Mon-Thurs after school, or you may set up an appointment on a Fridays

Be Supportive: Parents, this one is for you. A beginning musician's ego is a very fragile thing. If you want your student to become the best musician they can be, they are going to need your help! I have always said, I would not have become the music teacher I am today, if it were not for my mother making sure I was practicing when I was in middle school. Even as someone who loved band class, I still need that extra push to become the musician I am today.

Be organized: This means making sure all of the band concerts are family events. ATTENDANCE TO CONCERTS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS. Please, parents, it is also imperative that you are there to show your support. Again this goes into the category above in that if you support the students at the beginning, the end product is going to be so much more impressive!

Don't Give Up! Again, learning an instrument takes patience and dedication. Please understand that this is a year long course. Students who enroll in August are expected to stay until May. If you leave too soon, you deprive yourself of the opportunity to bacome the best musician you can be!
